 Colleen Baybutt, President/CEO, is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources and the Founding Principal for HR Business Solutions, a Virginia corporation since 1999.  Colleen holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.  Colleen has leveraged her large (Fortune 10) employer experience to assist employers with their benefit compliance and human resources efforts.  For example, she has assisted private and non-profit corporations of various sizes through start-up/licensure processes, mergers, plant closings, restructuring, 401(k) plan corrections, OFCCP compliance audits and daily oversight of human resources and related functions.  Over the past 8 years, HRBS has assisted a premier senior living community in all facets of development and operations, including selection and implementation of Human Resources and Payroll systems, HR and operational policies and procedures; staffing; compensation; employee benefits selection and implementation, management training, compliance evaluations, licensure, regulations management, litigation support, outsourcing studies, financial reporting, operational budgets, technology solutions, contract negotiations, and insurance procurement and claims management.  With over 30 years of experience in human resources planning and administration, she offers a unique combination of management consulting and practical Human Resources application expertise.  

 Katherine Earle, VP & Senior Human Resources Consultant, offers 30+ years of hands-on professional experience.  Prior to consulting, Katherine enjoyed a 26-year career in corporate HR and Employee Benefits, beginning with Sovran Bank (now Bank of America), then as the Director of HR for the Virginia State Bar, and later as the Manager of Health and Welfare Benefits for the 11,000 employees of Overnite Transportation (now UPS Freight).  She then had the opportunity to see the carrier side of employee benefits as a Director of Account Management for Southern Health/Coventry.  Katherine understands the time and resource challenges faced by clients and can assist in a broad variety of projects, including HR and benefits audits and best practices; ERISA, HIPAA, and Affirmative Action training and compliance; employee handbooks, surveys, newsletters, and total compensation statements.  Katherine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond and is a Certified Trainer and certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Mary Lee Lekavich, Senior Human Resources Consultant, has 30+ years of information technology and human resources experience.  Mary Lee holds a B.A. in Administration & Management from Chatham University and an MBA from Queens University, Charlotte, NC.  Prior to consulting, Mary Lee worked in corporate Human Resources, Information Services and Benefits Vendor Management & Administration at Altria.  Mary Lee has experience negotiating supplier contracts for the administration of Health & Welfare, Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans along with ancillary benefit plans.  She worked on multiple consolidation efforts and HR system selection and implementation projects.  Mary Lee has experience with Compliance programs ranging from SOX controls, HIPAA and ERISA plan audits.  She implemented a records imaging system that improved litigation response time and eliminated historical benefit hardcopy record keeping requirements.  She has collaboratively resolved employee complaints and handled employee and compliance investigations across a wide range of business functions.

 Denise D. Borgoyn, Senior Human Resources Consultant, has over 30 years of experience in the health and human services fields.  Dee’s career spans high-level human resources service delivery from leadership development, targeted recruitment and retention strategies, staff and customer satisfaction and performance management, to building positive, effective relationships with employees.  She is proven in both public and private sectors, primarily in health care arenas, focusing on people processes and systems as they relate to gerontology, aging services and long-term care.  Dee has worked with medium and large CCRCs, community services, home heath, hospice, hospitals and free-standing clinics systems.  She built a strong customer service skillset during ten years as a senior leader in Fortune 500 catalog and telecommunications service centers, and has leveraged those skills to effect the experience of health care employees, residents and patients.  Dee holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Nevada Reno.  She is a Certified Aging Services Professional, a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, a member of the DC chapter of the National Speakers Association, and a past Virginia President and Regional Representative for The American Society for HealthCare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).  Dee is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Gerontology and Aging Services from the University of Massachusetts Boston. 

 Valerie Hite, Human Resources Consultant, brings 20 years of Human Resources experience from three Fortune 100 companies (James River Corporation, Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Owens & Minor).  She has extensive expertise in Executive Compensation, Salary/Market Studies, ERISA Reporting and Disclosure, Affirmative Action Plans, and Cafeteria Plan Non-Discrimination Testing.  Valerie prepares Welfare and Cafeteria Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and Annual 5500 filings, including voluntary compliance programs for delinquent filings.  She holds a B.S. degree from Longwood College and a Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She is a Certified Compensation Professional.

 Lisa Marcus, Human Resources Consultant, brings 25 years of Human Resources with benefit and financial systems experience from two Fortune 100 companies (Owens & Minor and Reynolds Metals/Alcoa).  Lisa was responsible for vendor management, analytics, design, implementation, compliance and oversight of wealth building programs, including 401(k) plans and executive compensation and benefit programs.  She managed high visibility benefit program changes for company acquisitions, divestitures and plan transfers.  As a Financial Analyst for Alcoa, she managed the $200 Million Human Resources financial cost model and was accountable for government reporting of all health and welfare programs.  Lisa holds a B.S. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. 

 Karen Millican, Human Resources/Payroll Administrator, assists clients in managing daily payroll and human resources administration.  She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She has over ten years of experience in staffing, benefits and payroll systems implementation, FMLA/COBRA/Workers’ Compensation administration, Affirmative Action compliance, Department of Transportation (DOT), and wage and hour compliance for a multi-site employer.  Karen was involved in due diligence associated with two acquisitions, coordinating efforts to consolidate payroll, benefits and HR systems and implement workforce realignment.
