Katherine Earle, VP & Senior Human Resources Consultant, offers 30+ years of hands-on professional experience.  Prior to consulting for HR Business Solutions over the past ten years, Katherine enjoyed a 26-year career in corporate HR and Employee Benefits, beginning with Sovran Bank (now Bank of America), then as the Director of HR for the Virginia State Bar, and later as the Manager of Health and Welfare Benefits for the 11,000 employees of Overnite Transportation (now UPS Freight).  She then had the opportunity to see the carrier side of employee benefits as a Director of Account Management for Southern Health/Coventry.  Katherine understands the time and resource challenges faced by clients and can assist in a broad variety of projects, including HR and benefits audits and best practices; compensation analysis, ERISA, HIPAA, and Affirmative Action training and compliance; employee handbooks, surveys, newsletters, and total compensation statements.  Katherine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond and has attained certification as a trainer, Senior Professional in Human Resources, and SHRM-Senior Certified Professional.

Valerie Hite, Senior Project Consultant, brings 29 years of Human Resources experience from three Fortune 100 companies (James River Corporation, Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Owens & Minor). She has extensive expertise in Executive Compensation, Salary/Market Studies, ERISA Reporting and Disclosure, Affirmative Action Plans, and Cafeteria Plan Non-Discrimination Testing.  Valerie prepares Welfare and Cafeteria Plan Documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and Annual 5500 filings, including voluntary compliance programs for delinquent filings.  She holds a B.S. degree from Longwood College and a Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She is a Certified Compensation Professional and has worked for HR Business Solutions for over ten years.

Mary Lee Lekavich, Senior Human Resources Consultant, has 30+ years of information technology and human resources experience.  Mary Lee holds a B.A. in Administration & Management from Chatham University and an MBA from Queens University, Charlotte, NC.  Prior to consulting, Mary Lee worked in corporate Human Resources, Information Services and Benefits Vendor Management & Administration at Altria.  Mary Lee has experience negotiating supplier contracts for the administration of Health & Welfare, Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans along with ancillary benefit plans.  She worked on multiple consolidation efforts and HR system selection and implementation projects.  Mary Lee has experience with compliance programs ranging from SOX controls to HIPAA and ERISA plan audits and ACA reporting.  She implemented a records imaging system that improved litigation response time and eliminated historical benefit hardcopy record keeping requirements.  She has collaboratively resolved employee complaints and handled employee and compliance investigations across a wide range of business functions.  Mary Lee is a Certified Compensation Professional.

Amy Morelock, Senior Human Resources Consultant, offers over 25 years of broad based Human Resources and operations expertise and experience driving organizational performance through strategic leadership and innovative counsel.  Amy has been a valued partner to all levels within an organization from entry-level associates to board members.  These relationships have been developed within various environments, from start-up and early growth companies to large corporate entities including SunCom, Payerpath, Zigmo and Circuit City.  Her areas of specialty include: attracting, developing and retaining talent, organization development, employee engagement, internal communications/employee relations, performance management, leadership development, succession planning, benefits, and auditing the human resource function.  Amy holds a B. Laura Wooton, Human Resources Consultant, brings 25 years of Human Resources generalist experience from organizations in the senior living, engineering, manufacturing and retail fields.  Laura has performed as Corporate Human Resources Director for a multi-site non-profit continuing care retirement community and multi-state engineering firm.   She has operated in both union and non-union environments.  Laura has a Bachelor’s Degree from Virginia Tech in Human Services and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in Human Resources.  Having worked with organizations from start-ups to large Fortune 500 companies, Laura enjoys interacting with all levels of staff and helping to create environments which will attract and retain top talent.  Her employee relations and analytical skills along with her passion for customer service position her to help organizations improve their processes and bring out the best in their teams.  She is also certified to teach Myers-Briggs.  Laura is on the Board of Safe Harbor, a domestic violence shelter and resource center in Henrico. 

Karen Millican, Human Resources/Payroll Administrator, assists clients in managing daily payroll and human resources administration.  She holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She has over ten years of experience in staffing, benefits and payroll systems implementation, FMLA/COBRA/Workers’ Compensation administration, Affirmative Action compliance, Department of Transportation (DOT), and wage and hour compliance for a multi-site beverage distributor.  Karen was involved in due diligence associated with two acquisitions, coordinating efforts to consolidate payroll, benefits and HR systems and implement workforce realignment.   Karen expanded her skill set in recent years to include additional Payroll/HRIS systems and back office administration including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, vendor management/selection, tax preparation/filing and other administrative/office support.
